Squad vs Squad Mission

Postby trumpetmagic » Thu Jul 29, 2010 10:15 am

Today we will be running a "Squad vs Squad" mission. In this mission squads will be competing over territories on campus - the aim is to capture and hold the most of them. In this mission squads will not directly compete and their main threat will still be zombies, who can use this entire mission to their advantage. Success in this mission will heavily benefit your squads chances of winning awards. If you are a human who isn't in a squad you can still participate in this mission (Aiding a squad of your choice) - but you can't personally score points.

We have set up 4 territories on campus, they are located at the following locations:

mapTerritories.jpg (835.54 KiB) Viewed 2064 times

Each "territory" consists of a red folder with a piece of paper inside. They are NOT a safe zone of any kind. Rather, the rule is that only members of one squad are allowed to place their name at any time and the first squad there gets to place the name. This means that whichever squad gets to and holds the territory first will be able to stop any other squad from taking control of it.

Every hour you will have a chance to score points on the paper at the territory. If you are in a territory between X:30 and X:35 (every hour) you may right down the name of your squad in the appropriate box - this gives you a single point for that territory. At the end of the day the squad with the most points at a territory will be claimed its winner. Please note that this means to "hold" a territory securely you need to be in it constantly - to block other squads, however you can always take the safer option and retreat to safe zones between scoring times, you'll just be open to having the territory captured by another squad. Squads are welcome to try and capture multiple territories.

This is a BYO pen mission, so please make sure you have one with you.

The paper cannot be moved outside of the cones of the territory and is not a game item - it must remain there. Only squads can write down their name on the hour, single players and zombies obviously cannot. Writing down your squad's name in a box when you shouldn't is a very serious offence which will count as cheating and will remove you from any hope of any awards. Moderators will be checking - so do the right thing.

The game will run from 10:30 (first time to write) to 16:30 (last time to write). At the end of this time the squad which "wins" the territory will be awarded 1E and squad points. If two squads tie for a location each will receive 1e and less points. If more than two squads tie for a location no squads get anything for that territory. If there is no squad registered at a territory by the end of the mission the zombies receive the escapium.

Zombies are encouraged to attack these locations.

Have fun

Complete failure of communication by the humans. I heard that all points had been taken, so our squad was told to "not bother" rolling out to the other points. This was by at LEAST 4 other humans... Spy?

I heard that too, from multiple people. :X

Don't worry, we'll be way more organised tomorrow. ^_^

The story about that intel is as follows: Beau Olsen and I (the two leaders of the Cavalry) had a lecture in the Robertson Theatre from 10-11. After this, we found out about the mission; as an iTouch couldn't read the attached map properly, we decided to head to the InfoCommons in BaMBi.

Once there, we found out we were fortuitously within sight of the territory there; however, there were already 10 or so zombies there. The signup time came and went; the professor arrived, escorted by zombies. As there was just the two of us, we could not take them on. We decided instead to gather information on numbers, and try to organise a large group of smaller squads to sign at least one on the sheet.

After the next signup period (which we realised - too late - that we could have tried, as only 5 or so Zs were visible), we suddenly saw Hayden Allen and 3 other humans walk through BaMBi. Upon contact, we discovered that Hayden had 3 or 4 Escapium on him, and was headed towards the shop. He also told us that both of the Uni Ave territories had been claimed; later, he also said that he'd seen a squad's signature on the paper. As the current human escapium was more important than what we thought was already claimed future human escapium, we accompanied him to the shop to buy the Grey Box.

It seems that the reinforcements we had been seeking were on their way as well, under Caleb, and apparently lost a few members in their effort. For this, we sincerely apologise - it appears communications broke down while we were on the move.

So, a great intelligence mixup all round. I think we've learned to check each other's stories from this.
